In 2025, the Town of Dedham updated Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) zoning regulations to allow ADUs in all zoning districts that allow single-family dwellings. Since the updates, the Town of Dedham has received more interest in ADU’s than ever before.

To help residents and property owners learn more about the process to build an ADU, the Town of Dedham has developed this informational handbook. The handbook has been designed to help homeowners determine if an ADU is feasible on their property, and also provides guidance on how to proceed with developing one.
