In response to questions the Town has received over the past few days, Town Manager Leon I. Goodwin offers the following clarification regarding automated security cameras in Dedham:
The Town of Dedham does not have a contract with Flock, nor does it own or operate any Flock cameras. The Town also does not currently use any automated license plate recognition (ALPR) technology. If the Town considers ALPR technology in the future, a formal policy outlining its permitted uses, data management, storage, and access requirements would first need to be developed by the Police Department in consultation with legal counsel, and approved by the Select Board.
