Dedham to Receive Funds from Settlement

Office of the Attorney General reached a settlement with school bus company for anticompetitive collusion
Post Date:07/28/2026 3:35 pm

As announced on Monday, July 27, the Town of Dedham is one of three communities in Massachusetts set to receive funds from a $2.4 million settlement secured by Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell's Office after a school transportation company was found to have engaged in anticompetitive collusion and made false statements regarding school bus transportation contracts. The Attorney General's Office indicates the majority of the $2.4 million settlement will be distributed to the three affected cities and towns, and Dedham is slated to receive $43,233 which will be deposited into the Town's General Fund.

Town Manager Leon I. Goodwin III had this to say about the case and recent settlement,

“As have many of our peers in the Commonwealth, Dedham has struggled with unsustainable cost increases for many goods and services, especially since the pandemic. In order for us to provide safe and reliable services to our residents, we must have trust in our vendors and contractors, and this includes fair and transparent pricing because profits cannot come before people. It is reassuring to see the Attorney General’s Office investigate one of the root causes of this issue and hold a company liable for their illegal actions.”
