The Town of Dedham is inviting residents, community organizations, and stakeholders to participate in the public comment period for the draft 2026 Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP) Update. Public comments will be accepted through July 20.
About the Project
The Open Space and Recreation Plan serve as a roadmap for protecting, enhancing, and expanding Dedham's natural resources, parks, open spaces, and recreational opportunities over the next seven years. The update is being led by Leonel Lainez, Environmental Specialist, Jiwon Park, Regional Land Use Planner, and the Open Space and Recreation Subcommittee in collaboration with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), Town departments, and community members.
The 2026 OSRP Update seeks to:
- Define a shared vision for the future of Dedham's parks, open spaces, and recreational opportunities.
- Identify gaps in access, equity, and services to ensure all residents can enjoy and benefit from these resources.
- Prioritize future investments that reflect the community's needs and values.
Over the past year, the planning process has included community surveys, public forums, stakeholder outreach, and data analysis to better understand residents' priorities for open space and recreation in Dedham. The draft plan reflects this community input and outlines goals, strategies, and actions that will guide future decision-making.
Residents are encouraged to review the draft plan and submit comments during the public comment period. Feedback received will help refine the final document before it is submitted for approval.
